RENEWAL OF VOWS

Comments to those assembled and to the Bride and Groom as determined by the Presider. This is brief and to the point, and is usually followed by a prayer as the couple prepare to make their vows.

As mentioned in the "Readings" section, the couple may also have another person make some kind of statement, or share some expression of their relationship with those assembled (a poem written by one or the other, or other special item that they want to express). Even if this was to occur the Presider would likely add a comment or two.

The address is normally followed by a brief prayer and the declaration of intent.

PRAYER BEFORE VOWS EXCHANGED

STYLE ONE
Let us Pray -- Almighty God, we ask your blessing to be with - Name - and - Name - as they now make their wedding vows. Draw them closer to you and help them to grow together in love and commitment to each other from this time forth, and forevermore. Amen

STYLE TWO
Let us pray for this man and this woman as they make their marriage vows -- Almighty God who, from the beginning, hast made man and woman for each other, let your Holy Spirit rest upon these your servants, as in your name they pledge themselves to one another in vows of love and faithfulness. Let your love be upon them and their be in thee, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

STYLE THREE
Let us pray — Loving God, you made man and woman for each other; may your Spirit be with this man and this woman as they make their promises one to the other. In Jesus's name we ask it. Amen
